It was with profound gratitude and a spirit of humble reflection that I took part in the Balkan Crypto Summit 2025 in Tirana. I wish to extend my sincere thanks to the organizers for offering such an enriching opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with esteemed leaders, visionaries, and innovators from around the globe.
Our gathering was not merely a technological symposium—it was a convergence of minds united by a shared aspiration: to ensure that our most advanced tools remain anchored in ethical purpose and human dignity.
In the words of His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Vatican:
“Only if man is able to understand himself in a horizon of transcendence will a better future be realized for humanity.”
This insight became the cornerstone of my address, which I had the honor to deliver under the title: Beyond Digital Frontiers: Transcending Limits through Quantum Computing, AI, and Blockchain.

A Horizon of Transcendence
I opened with a personal reflection on my journey as President of the Institute for Advanced Studies and Cooperation (IASC), as Founder of the World Changers Summit, and as a representative of both the Pontifical Academy of Theology and the Red Cross. My professional mission—bridging emerging technologies with timeless values—has guided my efforts across the fields of neuroscience, biomolecular medicine, diplomacy, environmental action, and digital innovation.
In my latest book, Transcendence: Quantum Technology, AI, and the Future of Humanity, I explore how disciplines that once seemed disconnected—quantum physics, psychology, biohacking, ethics, and computation—are now merging into a new model of reality.
This convergence is not theoretical. It is shaping our world.

The Quantum-AI-Crypto Nexus
Quantum Computing is revolutionizing our understanding of information and encryption. While it poses risks to classical blockchain through quantum decryption capabilities, it also offers solutions such as Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and post-quantum cryptography that may safeguard future systems.
At D-Wave, a pioneering architecture is integrating quantum computing with blockchain to create secure, energy-efficient networks. Their “Proof of Quantum Work (PoQW)” demonstrates how quantum-native consensus mechanisms can reduce energy consumption by up to 1,000 times compared to classical proof-of-work systems—while improving security.
Meanwhile, countries like India and China are taking bold steps in building quantum ecosystems, from photonic quantum computers to dedicated Quantum Valleys.
⸻
AI and the Ethical Upgrade of Blockchain
Artificial Intelligence is far more than automation—it is the capacity for discernment, foresight, and adaptation. When merged with blockchain, AI can transform “smart contracts” into “wise contracts”, capable of ethical reasoning, pattern interpretation, and real-time responsiveness.
AI-enhanced decentralized systems could:
- Predict systemic financial risks before they materialize,
- Support governance in DAOs through ethically informed decision-making,
- And combat fraud and inequality through transparent algorithms.
We are already seeing signs of this transformation across multiple industries. At IASC, we call this synthesis the Transcendence Framework—a model where deep technologies are aligned with deep ethics.
⸻
Blockchain as a Platform for Human Flourishing
Blockchain, when governed ethically, can become more than a technological backbone—it can serve as a civic infrastructure rooted in subsidiarity, equity, and shared agency. It represents an opportunity to decentralize not only power and wealth, but also responsibility and purpose.
As I stated during my remarks:
“Matter does not truly matter without spirit. Wealth without direction is disorienting. And technology, no matter how powerful, must serve a greater purpose—one rooted in human dignity, flourishing, and conscious evolution.”
⸻
Final Reflection
The convergence of quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and blockchain technologies offers us not only a new digital infrastructure, but a new moral architecture.
Let us be wise enough to embed meaning into our machines, ethics into our protocols, and compassion into our codes. Because only then, as Cardinal Parolin reminds us, will humanity truly realize a better future—one that transcends not just technological limits, but spiritual ones.

With deepest appreciation to the organizers, my fellow speakers, and all participants at the Crypto Summit 2025. I remain committed to this dialogue, and to building a future where innovation and integrity walk hand in hand.
