With deepest sorrow and reverent respect, I join the universal Church and all people of goodwill in mourning the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, a spiritual father, moral compass, and tireless advocate for peace, justice, and compassion.
As Liaison Representative of the Pontifical Academy of Theology, I feel the profound weight of this loss not only as a Catholic, but as a servant of dialogue, truth, and ethical advancement. Pope Francis’ luminous witness and courageous voice shaped a new era of theological thought—one deeply rooted in mercy, inclusion, and care for our “common home.”
His pontificate marked a historic journey toward spiritual and human transcendence, illuminating the inseparable bond between faith and reason, and inspiring theologians, scientists, and global leaders alike to pursue a more just and fraternal world.
We bow in prayerful gratitude for his life, and in humility before the legacy he leaves us. May his memory remain a guiding light for the Church and for all humanity.
